A Grid-Free Method for LES of Incompressible Flow by Adrin Gharakhani.
A grid-free method for the LES of turbulent incompressible flow is presented. The computational engine based on Lagrangian Vortex Element Method to account dynamics resolved vorticity field and Vorticity Redistribution (VRM) diffusion. Turbulence modeled here using standard Smagorinsky subgrid-scale model but work underway implement a dynamic version. In this paper, accuracy convergence rate VRM are presented case diffusion with variable viscosity. Furthermore, adaptivity as well robustness proposed in capturing large-scale vortex structures typical dominated demonstrated preliminary results from collision pair coaxial rings, perturbed initially by wave-number their most unstable mode.
