Superlattices: Progress and prospects

Superlattices: Progress and prospects by T. C. McGill, G. Y. Wu, S. R. Hetzler.

The current status of HgTe–CdTe superlattices is reviewed. properties predicted for the have been studied qualitatively in cases where both theory and experiment exist. In particular, it has found by infrared absorption photoluminescence that band gaps are substantially less than those alloy with same average composition. Theoretical studies concentrated on factors (strain, offsets, interdiffusion) could result substantial deviation from original simple theories. Some areas requiring further development reviewed discussed.
